This antique ring is a lovely example of the luxurious Edwardian technique of layering diamond-spangled platinum over rich 18ct yellow gold. Its unusual design is so versatile, it could serve as an engagement ring, a wedding band, or a charming anniversary band. The top of the ring is a platinum plaque, with twinkling diamonds set horizontally inside an "eye" shape. Two curved rows of diamonds bracket the "eye." Delicate piercing and engraving give the piece an airy, glittering appeal. The platinum is layered over the 18ct yellow gold body of the ring, with a low profile, pinched shoulders and a narrow band. Circa 1915.
